What The Heck Is 70/20/10 Training Framework?

What The Heck Is 70/20/10 Training Framework?

I created a quick three-minute video (Using Microsoft PowerPoint, TechSmith Camtasia, Professional Voiceover Studio and iSpring Suite – an easy-to-use eLearning tool) explaining the 70-20-10 framework in relation to individual learning styles and how this should both direct and influence how learning is implemented and applied across any working environment.

If you are not sure about the dynamics of this eLearning concept, take a few minutes out of your hectic schedule, sit back, sip a cup of good coffee (or tea) and learn about the 70 -20 – 10 framework or rule in relation to how learning should be structured to meet the individual needs of your learners or employees.

Let’s get our learners into MOOCs

This week we are looking at MOOCS (MOOCs—massive open online courses).

The concept of MOOCs has been around for many years but it was Dave Cormier, an educational activist, researcher, online community advocate and the Project Lead for Student Relations Management at the University of Prince Edward Island. He used the term “MOOC” to describe the Connectivism and Connective Knowledge course delivered by George Siemens and Stephen Downes in 2008. Over 2000 people around the world participated in this course online, for free.

So in short,  a MOOC is a massive open online course.

And it always will be.

There is always the question of developing vs buying online elearning courses.  My rule of thumb is ” horses for courses” -MOOCs are great for personal develpment of staff and if you are willing to put in the time you are sure to find a MOOC to meet your particular learning need.

Here is a list of the most recent MOOC poviders we found in our onlie search. I have put this into a Mindjet Mindmanager 18 HTML 5 map for sharing.

It is not an exhaustive list as new MOOC providers come online all the time but it does provide a quick and easy access list to the most used /known MOOC providers.

TIP: If you want a quick access link ot this list drag and drop the MOOC list URL to your desktop.

This week we are looking at H5P, and open source content development platform to create, reuse and share interactive HTML5 content in your browser.

H5P makes it easy to create interactive content by providing a range of content types for various needs.

It works on existing publishing systems (see below) that enable development of interactive content.

Examples of content (games, multimedia, questions, social media) are listed in the gallery below.

Hippani Animator – HTML animation studio

Hippani Animator – HTML animation studio

We are working on a project for Kelston Deaf Education Centre in Auckland at the moment, updating older CD based resources for Deaf students into online resources for teacher, student and parent use.

For this project, we developed using an animation tool called Hippani Animator as our HTML animation studio tool.

At first glance the interface seems dated but don’t be fooled. The program comes packed with functionality and has a powerful inbuilt Javascript and image resource editor for in-development resource editing.

The company promotes the program for making scalable interactive animation, complex games, videos, presentations, apps and multimedia websites.  It also boasts that users can publish on more web browsers and more devices than any other HTML5 animator.

Hippani Animator is a Windows only desktop software application that has  a two tiered price:

Starter Edition: Free

Professional Edition : $50 (USD)

I made the mistake by equating price to functionality and did  I get that wrong !.  This piece of software has exceeded all of our expectations.
