Free music, music, music

Free music, music, music

There is so much out there and so little time to source suitable material for eLearning so we want to focus on providing quality free and resources for our New Zealand and Australian Docebo clients.

One of the recent developments (the past 18 months) that I absolutely love in the growth of free to use eLearning /Web Design/ Interface Design resources in the design arena. This also includes royalty free music.

Here is a list of some (not all the music and sound resource sites we tap in to when creating eLearning modules for clients that are ideal for developing elearning content for Docebo courses.

SoundBible.com has thousands of free sound effects. It contains an extensive sound library with a broad category of  sound so you are sure to find what you are looking for.

The sound library is  updated 3x a week or more. Well worth using.

Public Domain 4U  We use this site all the time. Free Domain – hey —– no royalties to pay.  A bit limited but some good resources to use. Music is neatly categorized by Genres.

Archive.org I found this site by chance and use it  at least four to five times a week. Internet Archive is a non-profit library of millions of free books, movies, software, music, websites, and more.

I love the old 20- 50’s music so great for personal use as well !

FreeSoundtrackMusic One of the biggest challenges we all face as eLearning designers is finding  just the right music for just the right simulation or scenario. There are a lot of free tracks for use. Some limitations apply so make sure to read the licensing terms . ( Notably a link back  to their website URL).

Freesound.org  This is truly an “eat your heart out ” bonanza site of royalty free music. Run a search and you are sure to find what you are looking for to use in your next eLearning project.

Incompetech Pure quality musical recordings created by Kevin MacLeod. All of the tracks are free to download, but you have to include an attribution. Get your music rolling or your users in your Docebo learning platform .

Icons8 for elearning development

Icons8 for elearning development

This week we are looking at Icons8 as a platform to use for e-learning development.

We have been using Icons8 for many years now and love the progressive approach from the Icons8 development team. There are updates and new functionality added regularly.

The company also provides free design tools.

You can sign up to a free account using this link. If you decide to join, please note we get an affiliate payout. This does not affect the price you would pay for an annual subscription.

TechSmith Snagit 2023 – Darn it’s Good !

TechSmith Snagit 2023 – Darn it’s Good !

TechSmith’s latest Snagit release, version 2021 is, to put it mildly …… mind blowing – eye- popping , absolutely, mouthwatering marvelous! The interface is a total rebuild of this versatile tool.

I have been using Snagit since its first release waaaay back in 1990 !

For those of you be reading this blog piece Snagit is a screenshot program that captures video display and audio output.

Originally developed for Microsoft Windows operating systems, recent versions have also been available for Mac OS, but with fewer features.

Snagit is available in English, German, Korean, and Japanese versions.

Snagit replaces the native print screen function with additional features. Newer versions allow batch capture of embedded items such as links, pictures, and multimedia. The user can set parameters and keyboard shortcuts to capture particular types of data, which are stored in a folder called “Catalog” by default. The software can also follow links in web pages, capturing the specified data from the linked pages.

Accessories extend its features. For example, Flickr Output enables the user to upload screen captures to a Flickr account.

The latest release also provides a feature for creating animated GIF files, quickly and easily.

We have a series of videos available on our other business website mindlogik.com
