Camtasia is one of my favourite tools for eLearning content development. Camtasia 2021 has just been released and I am really pleased with the new updates to functionality.
These have moved Camptasia out of the realm of video editing and solidly into the realm of rapid e-learning development.
Here is a quick video we created showcasing the new features.
Have you ever spent hours looking for just the right photo, icon or colour scheme to ensure a consistent look and feel across your elearning course?
Well, get in line and join the club!
Design–I consider it a cornerstone of eLearning course development success.
When I design I consider 3W’s
What needs to be communicated.
What level of learner engagement is required, and:
What are the learning goals or achievement outcomes
Material Design provides access to a Colour palette enabling you to create a consistent colour scheme for your elearning project. You also have access to hundreds of icons you can use with projects.
TechSmith Camtasia is and I think will always be my screen capture tool of choice.I love the complex-simplicity of the product but sometimes I just need to create a quick tutorial or screenshot.
I found a website purely by chance and it is an impressive addition to my eLearning editing tool set.
123Apps say they are easy to use, safe, free and run in the browser.
The only downside is that there are adverts running (which is fair enough- you have to make money somehow) which are annoying. That aside from the set of nine editing tools makes this a nice little find !
The cost of developing elearning can be expensive if your agency, company of corporate business does not have in-house designers.
We are always looking for ways to keep cost down for our clients and we take a practical approach to design. Why use a complex design tool when a simpler online application does the job just as well?
As mentioned in one of my earlier blog posts Canva is my rapid-graphic-editing personal go-to choice.
I recently signed up to Piktochart, an online platform that gives non-designers the ability to create basic infographics without the complexity and learning curve of Adobe design software.
The platform comes with a library of icons, graphics and templates to use in expressing your creativity.
As a tool to create a quick and interesting infographic, Piktochart is an easy-to-use but robust design platform for quick design.
There is a free version with a two-tier commercial option. They are also looking at releasing a collaborative option for design teams in July 2017.
I have added this handy as a paid option to our elearning toolbox.
Piktochart Features
Drag-and-drop, point-and-click
Over 600 professionally designed templates from a selection of infographic, banner, report, and presentation formats.
Over 4000 beautifully designed icons
Import data from a Microsoft Excel file, a Google spreadsheet, or Survey Monkey . (I like this feature !)
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of free Internet resources developed to support time-management, productivity and content resource eLearning development.
I have compiled a Mindjet MindManager map as an HTML 5 online file containing useful free tools and online resources I use for design and development.
Click on the link below and then copy the link to your desktop for easy access to these compiled resources.
